If you are a clinician or academic with an interesting clinical problem and relevant datasets, please be sure to contact us! We can help you form interdisciplinary teams and provide compute resources to support your research.

Similarly, if you are a machine learning researcher interested in tackling some medical AI problems (maybe as part of your PhD/postdoc research), please introduce yourself in the Discord server and we can help you find some interesting projects to work on

How to propose a project:

If you are interested in proposing a collaborative project, complete the below project proposal template and email it to Tanishq ([email protected])

How we operate

We believe a novel, open, and collaborative approach to medical AI research is needed. Medical AI Research Center (MedARC) was created to develop foundation models for medicine and build interdisciplinary teams to address clinical needs.

An important principle of MedARC is doing science in the open. Models and datasets will be open sourced whenever possible, while being mindful of privacy and legal concerns. We aim to publish all our results as preprints and in reputed peer-reviewed journals/conferences. We have established a public environment with asynchronous communication (a Discord server) that allows others to discuss and follow research progress and contribute. This open approach has been successful for AI research in NLP (EleutherAI), multimodality (LAION), and biology (OpenBioML). Therefore, we believe a similar environment will be beneficial for medical AI research and enable new opportunities.

We are a decentralized organization operating mainly through Discord. Project information and organization is provided by our Notion workspace.
